Operation Holiday Box: Period Poverty

In keeping with the spirit of the holiday season and The Junior League of Poughkeepsie’s commitment and tradition to giving back to the community, this year we will be accepting donations on behalf of Period Poverty.

Did you know that according to a national study, 1 in 5 girls struggle to afford period products,
or haven’t been able to afford them at all?

Did you know that if a girl misses school every time she has her period,
she is set back 145 day behind her fellow male students?

Did you know that the cost to buy menstrual products is a financial and emotional burden on some households,
resulting in missing school and work?

Please help us by donating the following items, which will be distributed to local middle schools and high schools around the county:

  • Pads, Tampons, and other feminine hygiene products
  • Gift cards that can be used to purchase additional items as needed
