JLP Holiday Party 2018

By | Events | No Comments

On Friday, December 14th, 2018, the Junior League was thrilled to have over 80 members and guests join together at the Vassar Alumni House, for our annual Holiday Party. It was a great mix of Actives, Provisional Members, and Sustainers and we were able to swap different ideas and stories.

We were also able to collect donations for Give Way to Freedom. Give Way to Freedom is a private operating foundation that creates and supports targeted, culturally relevant projects aimed at providing care and empowerment to survivors of Human Trafficking, as well as those vulnerable to trafficking. Our vision is global awareness of the human trafficking crisis and the creation of worldwide sustainable freedom.

8th Annual Denim & Diamonds Gala and Photos

The Junior League of Poughkeepsie held its Eighth Annual Denim & Diamonds Gala on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Mill Creek Caterers honoring Women of the Year, Diane M Cicatello, MD, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician with CareMount Medical, Julia Pagones Kammerer, Public Relations Supervisor at CareMount Medical, and Organization of the Year, the Silver Starlites.

This great event continued to build upon the success of prior years with funds being raised to support the Junior League of Poughkeepsie’s programs and mission. Over 100 guests enjoyed live music and entertainment courtesy of Nellybombs, participated in a grand silent auction with multiple local items from the Hudson Valley, and bought raffle tickets for a chance to win a diamond jewelry set valued at $650! Guests also relished in a dessert bar with delicious cupcakes and pastries donated by local bakeries.

Thank you to Digital Weddings Photography for the amazing pictures!

Dutchess County Family Court Art Project

By | News | No Comments

The Junior League of Poughkeepsie and the Mid-Hudson Women’s Bar Association have teamed up in their efforts to once again help the community they live in! We are looking to raise funds to create and frame an exhibit of students’ art work in the waiting areas of the Family Court building. We are planning on having about 70 prints displayed on the second and third floor waiting areas. They have been working with The Art Effect (formerly Mill Street Loft), in compiling the exhibits, and look forward to beautifying the courthouse!

Please donate what you can to help us raise the funds necessary to have the artwork digitally printed and then framed! Our goal is $1300. Please give what you can and make the Family Court a less dreary place for those who have to enter on a daily basis.
